Technics Upgrade Path
Why Upgrade or Modify?
Technics 1200 series turntables were originally designed for hi-fi use, are abundant, ultra-reliable and low maintenance turntables with a fantastic motor unit.
Your Starting Point
Your upgrade path completely depends on what you have to start with. Do you have a great tonearm sitting on the shelf, or have you just bought a beaten up ex-DJ turntable that needs lots of TLC?

The Linn LP12 Path
It's an old adage that you should upgrade in this order: Turntable » Tonearm » Cartridge. Whilst you can get improvements going a different route, this offers the best value for money at every stage.
It's hard to find an LP12 that doesn't have a Cirkus bearing, or sub-chassis upgrade these days.
I believe the Linn LP12 upgrade path exists for a very good reason, and it applies to Technics 1200 series turntables too.
The speed to market of upgrade options has been based on ease of manufacture, and now our upgrades are available, you can choose a better path.
